Shine is a 1980 psychological horror film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Diane Johnson. Starring Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall and Danny Lloyd. The film is an adaptation of Stephen King's novel of the same name. The film tells the story of a writer, Jack Torrance, who accepts a job as a hotel supervisor, which is absolutely deserted in the winter. His son has medium skills and is able to see past and future things, as well as ghosts that live in the hotel. Shortly after settling in the hotel, the family finds themselves isolated from the hotel by a snowstorm, and Jack gradually becomes influenced by a supernatural presence; he begins to have bouts of insanity and tries to kill his wife and child.
