I don’t think that this sentence is right but I think that has a little bit of truth inside, because not all the young people have the same logic or something like that. Maybe some of them think in the same way and maybe they are selfish but I can’t say that for all the young people.
Yes, out parents weren’t that selfish because if they were they would be hit, and they had more respect for them parents.
