The faun of the Moldoei includes 17 thousands of species of animals.According to the latest data, the flora of the Republic of Moldova has almost 1540 species, which refer to 550 genera and 101 families. Palearctic species and plants characteristic of the flora of Europe predominate quantitatively. Among them, the rare plants characteristic of the Mediterranean area constitute 17% of the total species.
